2008 Baton Rouge Blast Off A record number of teams participated in the 2008 Baton Rouge Blastoff club volleyball tournament this past January 19-20. The fourth annual event, staged each year on Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, attracted 75 teams that participated at six different venues. All of the teams competing this year were from the state of Louisiana. On Saturday, Jan. 19, girls from 18-years-old down to 10-year-olds competed at area sites such as the LSU Rec Center, The Dunham School, St. Joseph's Academy, St. Michael the Archangel and the Pennington YMCA. The event is conducted as a joint venture between Volleyball Baton Rouge and Cajunland Booster Club of New Orleans.
